Cuba is an undeveloped country. The
poverty and hunger are parts of the society. People lack a lot
of necessities. Cubans are concerned about food every day. Cuban food is delicious,
but unhealthy. For Cubans, having healthy food is almost impossible. Some cause
of poor
nutrition for Cubans is eating lot of carbohydrates, not eating enough protein,
and consuming a
lot of sugar.

Cubans do not have variety in their food. Because of this they eat a lot of carbohydrates like rice, yucca, breads, and others. One of the worst effects of eating carbohydrates is Diabetes. Diabetes is a terrible disease that affects many people. This disease is when people have high levels of blood glucose, or blood sugar. Diabetes can cause serious problems like damaging your eyes, damaging kidneys, causing stroke, and removing limbs.

The big consummation of sugar in Cuba is a terrible problem. In Cuba when a child is 7 years old
the government does not give him or her any more milk. For parents, it is very
difficult and expensive
to provide milk to their children. Therefore, children can only drink water with sugar for
breakfast every morning. Consequently, when children consume a lot sugar they
can develop hyperactivity, anxiety, and difficulty concentrating.
Due to
all these effects caused by Cubans food, people should change their eating
habits to improve their health. Eating lot of carbohydrates causes Diabetes.
Not eating enough protein can cause Beriberi. Consuming a lot of sugar can cause hyperactivity, anxiety, and difficulty concentrating in children. They should learn or be informed
about what food they can eat or what options they have to supply their body with all the
nutrients that they need.
Viviana, your post is fascinating. Before hearing about this issue from you, I had never considered the nutritional challenges facing the Cuban people. Now I know that this is another area of deprivation on an already-burdened population. The one thing I'm wondering about is your conclusion. You say that people should change their eating habits to improve their health, but it seems from your essay that better nutrition is out of reach for most people. In light of that, what do you see as the possibilities for improvement?
ReplyDeleteHi, Viviana. I did not know about Cuban foods have lack of proteins before I read your blog. Hope they find a way to make people healthy soon. Thank you for sharing your ideas.

Hi Vivi.
ReplyDeleteI really did not know about the nutritional problem in Cuba's food. But I could not have imagined the whole process that Cubans must live when they want a bit of meat or some of milk. It is sad that there are people living in this situation.
The Cuban culture and the problems with the food you mentioned remind me so much about my country. I hope we could send the message out to our countries and make them realize the effects of the bad eating habits.
ReplyDeleteAs I thought before, each culture food may has different nutrition but they all are healthy food. But after reading your post.. I feel so sorry for people in Cuba that you just mentioned. Thanks for sharing, Vivian.

Maybe because it is some negative facts of your country but i completely know every place has good and bad situations. Thanks for your information, I enjoyed reading it.
